Corrigan's Thoughts - Jelly Forts!

Having a bunch of the artwork in and having the chance to playtest the game a little really defines what else we need to create for the game. Creation of things really starts to become a chain reaction based on what we already have in. With the forts and cannons in we were able to see that shooting cannon balls didnt provide enough feedback for the player. We need to make the player feel as though there cannon ball is connecting with an enemy fort. To do this i have been animating each fort so that any impact they receive will create a shaking affect like wobbily jelly. Very comical but seemingly suited to the kind of game we are creating. To go with this effect Paul has been working on various particle systems, making little explosions upon impact. Some explosions release little smoke clouds and some release little words like comic book strips that pop out of the smoke.
